Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
We are private pay only and do not accept insurance. We provide an invoice at the end of each session that you may submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
How do I know if my child needs speech therapy?
If you're noticing your child struggles with speaking clearly, following directions, understanding language, or expressing themselves, it may be helpful to consider speech therapy. Some common signs include difficulty pronouncing words correctly, challenges with social communication, or falling behind in language development compared to peers. ASHA Communication Milestones is a helpful resource for parents, but is not a diagnostic tool. Every child is different, and an early assessment can provide clarity on whether speech therapy is the right step. Feel free to reach out for a free consultation to discuss your concerns and get expert guidance on how to support your child's communication development.
How long are therapy sessions?
The length of therapy varies based on your child's diagnosis, needs, and progress. Some children make quick gains in a few months, while others benefit from ongoing support over a longer period. Typically, therapy sessions are held 1–2 times per week for 30–60 minutes. After an initial evaluation, we can discuss a personalized plan and expected timeline based on your child's specific goals.
Where do therapy sessions take place?
Therapy sessions take place in the child's natural environment, whether at home, daycare, or another familiar setting. This allows for a comfortable and effective learning experience tailored to their daily routines.
Does my child require a speech evaluation?
A speech evaluation is the first step in understanding your child's communication strengths and challenges. It helps determine whether therapy is needed and guides the development of a personalized treatment plan. If you have any concerns about your child's speech or language skills, an evaluation can provide clarity and direction.
What should we expect in the first speech therapy session?
In the first session, we'll begin with a parental interview to discuss your child's communication challenges and goals, allowing me to better understand their unique needs and history. I will then conduct both informal and formal assessments to evaluate speech, language, and other relevant skills. The session may also include engaging, play-based activities to observe your child's communication in a natural setting. At the end of the session, we'll review the findings and develop a personalized therapy plan moving forward.
